Roman Gladiator

My goal for the summer, other than conquering New York City, is to find the perfect pair of gladiator sandals. The inspiration comes from visions of vintage Kate Moss and D&G's spring runway... for all of the style and a quarter of the price. I am positive the strappy leather sandals would provide a much-needed edge to my preppy basics. Combined with a stack of mismatched bangles and a swinging satchel, I would look decidedly Annie Hall meets Ali MacGraw frolicking around the city. Or that's how I would hope to look, at least.

The pair in mind would be strappy (but not too) and tough (yet a little glamorous) in a rich chocolate brown or a creamy rustic tan. They would un-prep my polos, un-sweeten my sundresses, and still look great with jeans and my quintessential white Ts.

When it comes to buying shoes, I'm a notorious flake. I order shoes, decide to send them back, hold on to them for a week to see if they become better with age, finally send them back... and then question said decision to send them back.

It's a terrible habit that will make acquiring the perfect pair of gladiators nearly impossible, but if you have a recommendation, maybe that will be just the shoe to fix my little sartorial compulsion.
