Casey on the Airport Runway

Gearing up for another five hour plane ride, I realized that I'm in dire need of some top-notch literary entertainment. On my way to San Francisco, I breezed through Melissa Walker's latest, Violet on the Runway, in two hours and those were possibly the two fastest hours of the entire weekend. She really has a knack for making such familiar teen themes (fashion industry, struggling models, college life) hilarious and impossibly amusing. When I got to the last page, I was simultaneously grinning and blinking back tears. And I'm not even an emotional girl.
Melissa was one of the very first authors I spotted at the Ypulse conference, and I completely struggled conversing with her because I was so overwhelmed that I had just finished her book hours earlier. I might have accidentally gushed, in a way you would gush to your favorite singer or actress or designer ("Omigod, I love your..."). Had I been thinking on my feet, I would have tried to convince Melissa to write up a speedy fourth installment, just to keep me occupied during tomorrow's flight.
So off I go to the bookstore. If you know of any new books or magazines out there that have a chance of keeping me occupied for the length of this weekend's jaunt, let me know!

well, if you're looking for something really intense and quite good i'd go with the poisonwood bible by barbara kingsolver. also try the great gatsby by f scott fitzgerald...
You've probably read "Prep" by Curtis Sittenfeld (one of my favorites) but have you read "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold or "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel? I would certainly reccomend TLB... it's my absolute fav!

the shopaholics series is hilarious !
also.. my lil cousin loves the clique series ~
hope i helped =)
Here are some suggestions:
For a quick read-book get Shopgirl by Steve Madden, if you're looking for something longer and deeper definitely get My sister's keeper by Jodi Picoult (if you haven't read it already). SO. Good.
Magazines: I have always loved NYLON magazine, but I'm sure you're already familiar with that one. Another one I think is fun is Missbehave magazine. I've never read it, but Russh from Australia is supposed to be good (if you can get hold of international magazines). And Radar might be fun, I just bought an issue during my recent travels but haven't got the chance to read it yet (I bought a BIG stack of magagazines).
Hope you're having a great time!
right now im reading the twilight series! i swear, you cannot put them down but you breeze right thru them - there are 3 of them out now and the 4th one is coming out friday! im obsessed!
bergdorf blondes by plum sykes
and the twilight series is phenomenal indeed
If you've never read it I think you would adore Love In The Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez... I just read it this summer and found it spectacular.
I'd like to agree with "lml". I just read the first book in the Twilight-series and I loved it. I know a lot of people say they're poorly written and they don't understand the hype about them but I like them becuase they're an easy read, they're cute and who doesn't need a little something like that every once in a while. It doesn't hurt, right? Check them out if you haven't already. Stephenie Meyer (the author) just published her first adult novel too (The Twilight-series is a teen novel series) called "The Host", I ordered that one too, can't wait to check out if it's any good.
Try SAVVY GIRL by Lynn Messina. It's a about a 17 year old girl who lands an internship at her favorite magazine and spends a summer in NYC hanging out with an ex-model fashion editor, partying with designers, and meeting new guys. It's really fun!
